Background of the Department
Department of Veterinary Medicine was created as per norm of minimum standards Veterinary education. This department is focusing on undergraduate and post graduate teaching, running of veterinary hospital with state of art technology with highly expertise human resource (professionals), catering to the needs of farmers and general public focusing on companion animal practice, ruminant medicine and wild life medicine.
At present this department is having four teachers in different cadres namely Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professors, Contract Teachers and Non Teaching Staff members.
Medicine Department is running a veterinary hospital with a daily turn over of 100 cases (Small and Large animals) for diagnosis, treatment and control of various diseases.
The department of medicine do poses state of art Laboratory facilities for urine sample, blood sample, fecal sample, skin scrapping, microbiological examinations and bio chemical parameters estimation of various domestic and wild animals.
Medicine department is also offering expert advice on zoonotically important diseases Viz. Rabies, Brucellosis, etc., to general public.
This department is considered as an authority in issuing health certificates for various domestic animals.
Under graduate students are well trained in different aspects of animal disease diagnosis, its treatment and controls.
Post graduate students of this department with able guidance of expert teachers are able to come out with solutions to many complex disease situations.
