VETERINARY PATHOLOGY

The Department of Veterinary Pathology is engaged in imparting teaching Veterinary Pathology to BVSc & AH Undergraduate degree course as per MSVE 2016 guidelines of Veterinary Council of India, and MVSc (Veterinary Pathology) post-graduate degree courseas per ICAR guidelines for subjects under Veterinary Sciences.

The Department has facilities, infrastructure, instrumentation and teaching aids required not only for UG and PG teaching but also for disease diagnosis such as necropsy, clinical pathology, cytopathology, biopsy, histopathology, and molecular pathological studies adequate for both teaching, research and extension activities.

A collection of pathological specimen is kept as display for education of students and visitors in Pathology Museum.

The Department is actively offering servicessuch as Necropsy of livestock, poultry, laboratory animals and wild animals, cytopathology, histopathology, clinical pathology for disease diagnosis for the benefit of farmers, clients, pet owners, and cases referred by Clinical departments of the college etc.

The Department is also actively involved in extension activities like imparting training to farmers, Veterinary Officers of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, GoK.,and independently offering consultancy services to clients,farmers, pet ownersin and around Shivamogga.

Post-graduate degree programme began during 2017-18, with a focus on research on existing diseases in indigenous, cross-bred and exotic livestock, wild animals and poultry in Southern Transition and Hill zones of Western ghats of Karnataka.

The faculty have been involved in several KVAFSU funded and extra-mural research projects. Active research is in progress on diagnostic microscopy, wild animal diseases and diseases of obscure causes in animals.
