ANIMAL NUTRITION

The Department of Animal Nutrition is one of the core departments of Veterinary curriculum as per the VCI. The Department has been established at Veterinary College, Shivamogga and involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching. The Department is functioning with well furnished laboratories, staff room, seminar room, research laboratory. The laboratories are provided with all modern equipments to cater the undergraduate and post graduate program.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

• Post graduate teaching and research from the year 2015-2016
• Feed analysis of farmers

MAJOR AREA OF RESEARCH:

• Balanced ration preparation
• Use of unconventional feedstuff
• Use of feed additives, supplement and nutraceuticals
• Feed and fodder enrichment studies
• Involved in water shed project, SUJALA of Karnataka Govt.

EXTENSION ACTIVITES:

• Training veterinary officers under continued veterinary Education
• Training farmers regarding  scientific feeding of livestock
• Conduction workshops and field demonstrations on balanced feeding
• Supply of cost effective balanced feed and mineral mixture to farmers
