VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY
The Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal & Fisheries Sciences University, Veterinary College, Hassan has been established with the aim of providing quality education to the undergraduate students and to carry out research work in the area of veterinary parasitology. The department is functioning with a museum as well as Helminthology, Entomology & Protozoology Laboratory and a Research Laboratory. The department is involved in the diagnosis of parasitic diseases of animals by examination of clinical samples and identification of parasites collected from domestic & wild animals and also of human beings.
The department is offering courses in Veterinary Parasitology to undergraduate students (B.V.Sc.). The department also has the facilities for undertaking research work on parasitic diseases of livestock for the students to specialize in Veterinary Parasitology. The awareness on parasitic infections of animals is created to farmers through extension aids.
The department is furnished with laboratory equipments and instruments needed for UG teaching such as Centrifuge, Waring blender, Hygrometer, Distillation unit, Sterilization unit, Autoclave, Hot air oven, Incubator, Water bath, Dissection microscopes, Compound microscopes, LCD Projector and so on. The laboratories are equipped with instruments, permanent microscopic slides, charts, photographs, gross lesions for undergraduate education. The research lab is equipped with instruments to carry out basic and applied research in Parasitology.
