VETERINARY PATHOLOGY

Department of Veterinary Pathology is equipped with facilities for post mortem investigation of various domestic animals and poultry. It also has latest and advanced automated/semi-automated machines to run histology, histopathology, cytology, morphometric tissue analysis, support to surgical oncology and diagnosis of various neoplasms and infectious diseases of domestic animals and poultry. The infrastructure includes automated tissue stainer, tissue processor, microtome, cryostat, CMOS camera, image analysis software and various research grade microscopes.

The Department is offering courses in Veterinary Pathology to undergraduate and post graduate students. The Department has facilities for students to specialise in Veterinary Pathology and obtain Master Degree( M.V.Sc. ) in this subject.

Thrust areas of research include pathological investigation of rabbit diseases, poultry diseases, genetic diseases of pigs, impact of climate change on expression of animal diseases, Development of farmer friendly applications and illustrative atlas, characterization of mycotoxicosis and its effect on broiler industry in field level and evaluation of efficacy and safety of combined sheep vaccine.

The Department is also involved in extension activities like providing training to farmers, Veterinary Officers and independently offering diagnostic and consultancy services to poultry including broilers, layers, ducks and ostrich, rabbits, sheep, goat and other livestock farmers. Further, Department is providing investigative services to wildlife and captive animals.
