VETERINARY MICROBIOLOGY
The Department of Veterinary Microbiology is well equipped with advanced research facilities postgraduate teaching and research. The Department provides diagnostic and consultancy services to the farmers. The faculty is involved in screening of animals for various conditions like mastitis, brucellosis, black quarter, etc. The samples received / collected are regularly screened for detection and isolation of various bacterial and fungal pathogens. Antimicrobial sensitivity assays are performed and the results communicated, enabling suitable treatment by the concerned doctors. The faculty is involved as resource persons in training farmers and Veterinary Officers of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.The department offers Under Graduate, Masters and Doctoral programmes in Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology& Immunology.
Extension activities: Updating the professional knowledge of the Veterinarians about latest developments in disease diagnosis; Creating awareness among farmers in control of infectious diseases in animals; Creating public awareness about management of outbreak of common animal and poultry diseases, among farmers through training classes, seminars, Doordarshan and All India Radio
