VETERINARY & ANIMAL HUSBANDRY EXTENSION EDUCATION
Department of Extension is acting as a bridge between the farming community, field functionaries and the college. To this effect the department is co-ordinating various activities of the college. It is well equipped with audio-visual laboratory, discussion chamber and round table conference room to undertake undergraduate teaching, training of field functionaries and research activities.
The thrust areas of research include livestock livelihood studies, transfer of technologies, impact studies and livestock marketing. The Department has successfully implemented World bank funded, Sujala-III project of Watershed Department of Karnataka namely, ‘Livestock support and extension activities’ in Chamarajanagar district.
Conducting trainings; publishing folders, manuals and other literature; consultancy services to farmers and entrepreneurs; preparation of project reports; conducting need based demonstrations & animal health camps; village adoption, etc, are routinely carried out by the Department. Extension Education Centre (EEC), a dedicated unit of KVAFSU to carry out extension activities is also being run by the Department.
