LIVESTOCK PRODUCTS TECHNOLOGY

Department of Livestock Products Technology is one of the major Departments in BVSc & AH course curriculum.  As per VCI (MSVE 2016) the course LPT (2+1) i.e. Unit-1: Milk and Milk Products Technology, Unit-2: Wool Science, Unit-3: Abattoir Practices and Animal by-products Technology and Unit-4: Meat Science are offered to 3rd year professional students of BVSc & AH.

The thrust areas of research of the department are value addition milk and meat products and food safety including clean milk and meat production. The department is well equipped for undergraduate teaching and research. Facilities for fat and snf estimation; detection of milk adulteration; value added milk products preparation; poultry slaughtering facility; meat and bone cutting; slicing; mincing; grinding; smoking; refrigeration and packaging are available.

The Department is also involved in various extension activities conducted both at College and University level. Consultancy services are provided on establishment of dairy and meat processing plants; establishment of meat retail outlets, etc
