Departments of Fisheries Engineering and Technology

The Department offers under graduate and post graduate courses which includes Refrigeration and Equipment Engineering, Fishing Craft Technology , Fishing Gear and  Fishing Technology, Navigation and Seamanship , Aquaculture Engineering, Engineering Graphics ,  Sea Safety and Disaster Management, Fish Processing Machinery, Responsible Fishing and Marine Engineering.

• Energy conservation in fishing vessel
• Popularize the responsible fishing for conservation of fishery resources
• Development of eco-friendly fishing gears
• Creating awareness among farmers about modern eco-friendly aqua farms
• Design  and layout studies of fish farms
• Design and fabrication of  conventional aerators
• Assessment of seasonal fishing pattern along Karnataka coast
• Gillnet selectivity on reservoir fisheries
• Applications of remote sensing for capturing marine fisheries along Karnataka coast.
• Artificial reefs for enhancing the fish catch
• Use of solar based refrigeration system on board the fishing vessel
• Safety of crews and vessel out at sea
• Yellow fin tuna tagging
