Brief Biodata:

Dr. Mohamed Nadeem Fairoze is presently serving as Director of Instruction (PGS). He joined University service in 1981. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Department of Meat Science in Veterinary College, Bangalore in 1984 in a small way. Earlier he has served as Professor & Head for 11 years at Department of Livestock Products Technology, Veterinary College, Bangalore.

He Strengthened the Department of Livestock Products Technology by introducing Post Graduate Program and guided 16 students for successful completion of M.V.Sc degree in LPT so far and six students are on Roll.

He as a Coordinator of International Programs of the University is responsible for Signing of a number of MoUs with a number of Overseas Universities like Purdue University for Graduate internship and Post Graduate studies.

He is Instrumental in Collaboration between KVAFSU and a host of institutions such as National Research Centre on Meat (NRCM), Hyderabad., NMPPB, Min. of Food Processing Industries., Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI)., Nimbkar Agriculture Research Institute (NARI)., National Bureau of Animal Genetics Resources (NBAGR)., Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute, (EMPRI), Govt. of India., University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UASB) etc. and Capacity Building of the Veterinarians working in Slaughter Houses by organizing training Programs.

He has popularized hygienic slaughtering and processing of poultry through Practical demonstrations among Retail traders, Wholesale traders, integrators and the rural farmers. He conducted Hands on Training, made Strong attempt to popularize value addition of common vegetarian dishes with either Eggs or Minced Meat.

He has actively involved in the Establishment of a number of Private Poultry Processing Units and Retail outlets on Hygienic Lines in Karnataka State (Tender Chicken of M/S Life Line Feeds-Chikmagalur, Wholesome Chicken of M/S Coastal Hatcheries-Mangalore, M/S Al-Arif Chicken- Kundapura, M/S Century Chicken-Manipal and Bharath Chicken of M/S Bharath Agro-vet Industries, Mangalore).

He is a Panel Member of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FS&SAI), Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership (GARP) of CDDEP, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Agricultural Produce Export Development Agency (APEDA), Export Inspection Agency (EIA), National Meat and Poultry Processing Board, Govt. of India (NMPPB), Halal certification committee: Jamaat-e-Ulemay-e-Hind etc. have brought laurels in Particular to the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal & Fisheries Sciences University and Karnataka in general.

He is instrumental in Establishment of a Liaison Office for International Programs in the University and consequently a number of Study Exchange Programs were conducted.

With the Collaboration of International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), USA, he has conducted “An extensive survey to safeguard the interest of small holder livestock farmers”.

He has organized a number of training program for butchers and other meat poultry workers on "Hygienic Meat processing" sponsored by National Meat and Poultry Processing Board, Ministry of food Processing Industries, Government of India.

He is a Chief Advisor to Karnataka Sheep & Wool Development Board (KSWDC), Bangalore for the Construction of Slaughter House in Tumkur Dist, Karnataka.

He is a Member of Task Force of BBMP, Bangalore on Management of Solid Waste of animal origin.

Dr. Mohamed Nadeem Fairoze is the recipient of Junior Fellowship of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for Pursuing M.V.Sc Degree Program, Two Gold Medals: UAS Gold Medal and Farmer Sanjeevappa Memorial Gold Medal for being the First Rank Holder in Ph.D., Three Best Poster Awards in the 5th Annual Conference & National Symposium of Indian Meat Science Association (IMSACON-V) from 7th to 9th Feb, 2013 at NRC on Meat, Hyderabad, one Best Paper Presentation Award in the 2nd International Conference on Rural Development (ICRD-2015) from 18th to 19th February 2015 organized jointly by Torbat-e-heydarieh University, Mashad, Iran and Iranian Rural Development Association, Iran and One Oral Presentation Award in the 5th Annual Conference & National Symposium of Indian Meat Science Association (IMSACON-V) from 7th to 9th Feb, 2013 at NRC on Meat, Hyderabad.

He as a Principal Investigator has operated 04 Extramural Research Projects funded by International and National funding agencies and brought sufficient research grants to the University.

He has published 34 full length papers, out of which 5 research papers are in International and 29 in National journals, 18 abstracts, 9 full length papers, 2 chapters in Books and other publications.

He participated and presented a Presentation on “Environment Management in Broiler and Layer Farming” organized by World’s Poultry Science Association in September, 2016 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

He participated and presented a Paper on “Significance of Livestock Economy in Rural Development” in the 2nd International Conference on Rural Development (ICRD-2015) organized jointly by Torbat-e-heydarieh University, Mashad, Iran and Iranian Rural Development Association, Iran in February 2015.

As Organizing Secretary, organized a National Symposium on “Safe Meat Production for Good Health and Environment” in association with IMSA, “Safety of Foods of Animal Origin for Domestic & Export Markets: Legal Perspectives” in association with IAVPHS and International Seminar on "Anaerobic Digester Technology" in association with North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, North Carolina at Veterinary College, Bangalore.

He was awarded Certification and appointed as Brand Ambassador for International Journal of Applied and Natural Sciences (IJANS) under International Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology.

He is the recipient of Fellow award of IMSA and IAVPHS.

He is a Vice President & Executive Committee Member, Indian Meat Science Association (IMSA) – Life Member of Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists (IAVPHS) and Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA).
