Department of Wild Life Unit

Brief note:
Institute of Wildlife Veterinary Research (IWVR) was established by KVAFSU, Bidar during 2007 with an objective of imparting post graduate education to  Veterinary graduates leading to MVSc and PhD degree in wildlife and to undertake research in the area of wildlife, apart from imparting training to the needy professionals.  In this direction, Wildlife Unit was established at Veterinary College, Bangalore where post graduate degree program – MVSc (Wildlife) is offered by faculty members of different departments in the Veterinary College, Bangalore.

Faculty:

  1. Prof.H.A.Upendra Professor and HOD,  Veterinary Medicine and Coordinator,  Wild life unit
  2. Staff of Department of VGO, VSR and VMD

Services Rendered:
More than 25 students have completed their master’s degree program – MVSc (Wildlife) and equal number of research programs in the area of wildlife health management, nutrition, management, genetics and surgery are undertaken by the students.

Further,  Master degree holders from this Wildlife Unit are employed in different zoo, biological parks and forest department and are rendering a great service in the field of Wildlife.

Facilities as available in the department involved in offering the courses for MVSc in Wild life are being employed.
